You will be transported back in time to the true romance of the Victorian era. While our surroundings are ideal for couples wanting a romantic get-a-way, we can also provide for families with children wanting to provide them an historical experience.

If your friends, club, Red Hat Group, Girl Scouts, little girls birthdays, or card players want to come for High Tea, we can seat 6-24 persons by prior reservation. The facility is also great for baby or wedding showers!

House tours with light refreshments for 6-60 persons are available with prior reservations. Phone for our yearly calendar Celebrating the Victorian Era of varied events including several tours open to the public without prior reservations.

We can provide space for groups who quilt or scrapbook, etc. to stay overnight and workspace in their suites or in the 2nd floor of our barn.

The owners have created this atmosphere for their own pleasure and enjoyment. Now you can share the surroundings of this private home!

Our 1887 three story brick house in Independence Missouri is the ultimate Victorian Experience! Our guests call this a museum you can sleep in.
The B & B sign is surrounded by flowers throughout the growing season. The front flower border displays the Iris of May. Jonquils, pink yarrow and yellow daylillies grace this same bed in other months! Be sure to check out our special discounts by clicking on the "special deals" icon!

A three tiered fountain provides a delightful bath for many birds that flock to the flower-bedecked gardens.




A flower lined sidewalk leads to the two story carriage house in the back yard which houses the Spirit of Independence Suite, the Frontier Trails Suite, and the End of the Trails Suite. Various nooks provide seating throughout the yard and garden.
Beautiful Lithophane Stands are used throughout the house and guest rooms. The soothing music box tunes can be heard in all the rooms, too! Lithophanes in their Victorian style stands and music box tunes are both available for purchase. There are several dozen styles of lithophanes and two dozen music box titles each with dozens of selections. CD: $16.95, lithophanes: $49.95-$59.95. Great souvenirs of your visit or gifts for folks back home. These items can be ordered by mail, too!
The gardens surrounding the house are quiet (except for birds and windchimes)and secluded yet the house is within a few blocks of shopping, restaurants, and historic sites. Flowers greet guests coming and going at the main entrance to Serendipity Bed and Breakfast.









The side porch shelters house plants and decorative bird cages and provides a quiet spot to sit and read or watch the world go by. Smoking is allowed only in this sheltered and comfortable area with lighting and ceiling fans and ashtrays at hand!

Packages can be ordered in your room to celebrate special occasions. We offer something extra for that birthday, anniversary or honeymoon, etc. Choose from a balloon bouquet, $10; flower bouquet, $17; box of chocolates, $10; or a cheese, cracker & fruit plate, $12; or go all out and order "the works" at a special price of $45! Please give us 48 hours notice, if possible!
Dining Room
A full breakfast of ham and cheese breakfast quiche, spiced fruit compote, muffins, juice and coffee or tea is served in this dining room on antique china. The table is graced by a lace tablecloth and candlelight while a host of antique dolls looks on. Or if you stay in a room with a kitchen you may choose to have a continental breakfast (cereal, sweet roll, juice, coffee or tea) in your room. 24 hours notice required for in-room breakfast service.

GUEST ROOMS/SUITES

RATES

All Room Rates are subject to change (USD American Dollars) Although we do allow well-behaved children and pets, there is a charge for them. We have one room where pets are allowed d(Frontier Trails Suite with a queen size bed) at an additional charge of $10/pet/night. Children are charged as adults (regardless of age). We reserve the right to refuse service to those whose behavior is detrimental to our home, other guests or our surroundings.

There are 6 guest accommodations ( 6 with private baths)

The rate for one person in a twin bed is $45 in the Garden Room. Single occupancies in other suites will be accepted as space allows.

For two people in a queen or king size bed, the rate is $95 per night + tax. Two people in separate beds is $110 + tax. Additional persons of any age are an additional $15 per night in 2 bedroom suites. Tax is additional to all prices quoted. Our extended stay discount is 10% for a 3-4 day stay. 5 or more days brings a 20% discount. To make reservatins you must call us directly at 1-800-203-4299. Certain peak periods are excluded from discounts. You must request the discount at the time you make your reservations! Come visit us soon! We do reside on the premises and reserve the right to refuse service because of inappropriate behavior of either adults, children or pets!

The rate for each additional person (adult or child) above 2 is $15 each. Pets are allowed in the Frontier Trails Suite (queen bed) located on the first floor of the carriage house behind the main house. Cost is $10 per pet per night. Payment in full required on a one night stay at the time reservation is made. On extended stays, a deposit equal to one half is required to reserve. Balance due on arrival. Refund of deposit less $20.00 handling fee if cancellation is made 7 days (168 hours) befo re stated arrival time. On cancellations made less than 7 days before scheduled arrival time, a gift certificate in the deposit amount (less $20 handling fee) may be requested. The gift certificate is good for one year from cancellation date. Otherwise deposit is forfeited.

HARRY TRUMAN SUITE

This full bed is part of the four piece Renaissance Revival bedroom set in the Harry Truman Suite on the second floor of the main house. The hall outside this suite contains a gallery of Harry Truman portraits and renditions of the Truman Home along with books about Harry Truman.

Lace curtains, antique lighting, a brass birdcage, candles and music box tunes contribute to the Victorian aura of this suite. 2 people queen bed, $95 + tax; 2 people separate beds, $110 + tax; 3 people, $110 + tax;4 people, $125 + tax.

The iron queen size bed in the second bedroom of the Harry Truman Suite is framed by antique children pictures with antique children's books and figurines resting on the high shelf. The grapevine garland and "welcome" sign add a slight rustic touch to the lace and flowered linens.

BESS TRUMAN SUITE

The Bess Truman suite is located on the third floor of the main house. This "grandma's attic" suite is great for children! Besides the stock of board games, it contains a child's table and chairs and shelves full of children's books. Many toys of grandma's era are displayed in cabinets!!

The two bedrooms of the Bess Truman Suite are connected by this full kitchen and eating area, fully stocked with dishes and silverware, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. The full bath with tub and shower is off the kitchen.

The second bedroom in the Bess Truman Suite features an antique full size bed with wooden steps for the kids to reach the high mattress. Bedside reading is within reach. Racks of magazines are plentiful, too. Color TV's are available in each bedroom. The other bedroom in this suite has a king size bed. 2 people, king bed, $95; 2 people, separate beds, $110; 3 people, $110; 4 people, $125. Tax is additional to all prices quoted.

GARDEN ROOM

There is a twin size bed in the Garden Room. Lace curtains, flowered linens, candy, books and magazines make even this small room a pleasant Victorian get-a-way. This room is located on the lower level of the main house.

Three windows in this smaller room look out on two different views of the garden with its bird baths, flowers and gazing balls. There is a sink in the room but the private bath with shower is across the hall. 1 person, $45 + tax.

The Garden Room is the only room without air-conditioning but its location on the lower level, cross ventilation from open windows and 2 fans make it usually pleasant even in the hottest summer months.

END OF TRAILS SUITE

The End of the Trails Suite is located in the Carriage House on the first floor. Trains caused the end of the Independence being "Queen City of the Trails." This room contains train prints, a bookcase of train books and magazines and a real electric train with track and transformer. A king size bed is provided. A twin size bed is in an adjacent alcove.



The sitting area fills one corner of the End of the Trails Suite, where tapestry hung walls surround a corner whatnot shelf. All rooms or suites have color TV's, CD/cassette players/radios along with a varied selection of CD's & tapes or bring your own music selections!







The other corner of the suite houses a full kitchen and eating area. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware & cooking utensils plus coffee, tea, soda pop & popcorn. Disposable plates, cups, etc. are available for those who don't wish to wash real dishes. 2 people king bed, $95+ tax; 2 people in separate beds, $110+ tax; 3 people in king & twin, $110 + tax.

FRONTIER TRAILS SUITE

The Frontier Trails Suite is named for the trails which used to pass by the property. This sun and flowered filled suite is a self contained apartment with a full kitchen complete with stove and utensils and a pleasant dining area. Also in the kitchen is soda pop, coffee, tea and popcorn. A four poster queen size bed provides the night's resting spot. This suite is located on the first floor of the Carriage House.

The roomy sitting area has two windows filled with colored glasswares that give a stained-glass effect. A collection of glass flowers and flower pictures decorate the suite. A variety of books and magazines are available along with books about the trails. 1 person, $80; 2 people, $95 + tax. Pets are allowed in this first floor carriage house apartment suite at an additional $10 per night per pet.

Antique stereoscope viewers and cards provide 3 dimentional views of turn-of-the-century scenes. These are provided in every guest room for an authentic Victorian experience.

SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE SUITE

The "Spirit of Independence Suite" on the second floor of the carriage house is a very roomy two-bedroom suite - ideal for 1 or 2 couples or a family with children! It has a full kitchen with dining area, large living room with TV and full bath with tub and shower.

Antique lighting and Victorian accessories compliment the Queen sized antique brass bed in this bedroom in the Spirit of Independence Suite. Well-behaved children are allowed and charged at the regular rate. We do reserve the right to refuse service to guests becuase of inappropriate behavior of either adults, children, or pets!

The other bedroom in the Spirit of Independence Suite contains a king-sized bed, surrounded with antique pictures, lace curtains and plenty of reading materials. 2 people, king bed $95 + tax; 2 people, separate beds, $110 + tax; 3 people king & queen, $110 + tax; 4 people king & queen, $125 + tax.
